we were sitting on the porch in silence and she just started saying this

"do you understand that we hurt everything we touch?
we're destructive and careless and awful.
we think of the earth, plants and other animals as a threat and as disposable resources
instead of our home, medicines, and friends.

plants can heal every natural ailment and if we took care of our
bodies like we were supposed to, humans would probably
be immune to most illnesses by now.
but instead, we found unnatural ways around them.
we've made ourselves progressively sicker.

we've made the earth progressively sicker.
the earth is destroyed and it's too late.

wars and manufacturing and non-biodegradable waste were all made by man

people go to these wonderful beautiful vacation places to see pretty views and relax
but what they fail to realise is that if we weren't here, the whole world would be that way.

the world would be beautiful without us
but we've ruined it
and it's too late now
no amount of recycling your newspaper and coke cans will fix this now"

i just thought i'd share because i think she's right
i mean we don't have to be like cave people with no technology
but it's gone too far, ya know? i mean, whats next?
is all that futuristic flying car, chrome building crap really what everyone wants?
not me. why can't people just appreciate things that they have

human intelligence a curse
we don't think of ourselves as a part of the ecosystem anymore
we think we're above nature and every other living being
why? just because we can talk and build stuff?

we should have been the species to preserve the earth
too late now

Wow... So true. One of these days I'm going to come up with some way to fix the ozone layer, whether people like it or not!

In a weird way we're kind of at war with nature. Thing is no matter what we build even if its strong and large nature always grows over and consumes it, breaking it down etc. So really, we can't compete on the grand scheme. Yes we are quicker with building and movement but nature appears to be immortal where as we can become extinct quite easily.
Just my two cents

         i. i love tech advancement on the one hand but

  i agree tbh

like,,, we do what we can 4 the environment but like u said: it's too late

no amount of anything can fix the earth now, i think

  also

'we think we're above nature and every other living being'

it's. ye. that's why little things like people squishin bugs or spiders or euthanizin animals/dogs just because they bIT A HUMAN BEING BECAUSE THEY WERE SCARED OH NO !!!! bothers me sm

because it's. humans think we're sm More Important than any other living being

yeah pretty much
which is why i focus so much on animal welfare and such. bc humans are so cruel and irresponsible when it comes to our planets species that they die out, or with like tigers, theres more pets than there are wild ones. [pets, not ones in sanctuaries/zoos]

its so disgusting and i absolutely hate the human race

Interestingly, we aren't actually the only species that have wars!  Chimps and Ants are two I can think of off the top of my head

i think about this a lot. sometimes I wish humans had never existed, I want to see what the planet would look like without us and all of the damage that we've caused. I also think it's sad when you learn about history because things seemed peaceful, and then it slowly transitioned into wars and destruction and it's just really sad. I wish humans could be more caring, we can still undo all this damage but I don't think anyone cares enough to actually make a difference. though I doubt we could anyways because so many people are so greedy and I doubt many people would want to give all of this up.
your mother is very wise, by the way.

she's absolutely right.
nothing like a year of AP environmental science to see that...
sad thing being we have all the means to fix what we've done too, but nobody's willing to pay for it.
the US spends billions more on potato chips alone than on environmental aid programs...
the freaking price chart for this country is insane
environmental stuff is way at the bottom part
and it's probably the same for other countries
plus there's so many easy ways to live sustainability, just nobody who can break through the big businesses preventing it. that, and personal changes on a large scale.

exactly, it all makes me really sad.
we're paying for all this bullshit like win a million $$$ tv shows but you can't clean a lake or two
it should be a law to recycle, that just seems like common sense to me.
i don't see how we can be so intelligent and still so ignorant

no kidding, my gosh...
I seriously...
that's a good point o.o
I wonder if that's something that can be lobbied for.. I'll be looking into that actually- very smart idea
if it were law that'd certainly be a wonderful step forwards for change o:

and yea, I agree wholeheartedly :c in essence, our choices as a species make us the least intelligent..

Dude i think about this when i hear about scientists trying to find another planet that could sustain life. If we do, that world will be destroyed just like this one Q-Q

Those other planets don't have life as far as we're aware? If we terraform a planet to be able to sustain life, would that really be 'destroying' it?

I dont know if thats possible tho since we would have to basically remodel everything on it so we might as well just create another planet like earth but i dont think we're smart enough or have the materials to do that :/ so i think finding another planet like earth is really the fastest way to go about it. I think if we did do that and moved to another planet we would just be expanding the human population and i dont know if thats really a good thing tbh. I personally think that humans wont make it that long tho, like whats really stopping another mass extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs?

We don't even know of the existence of any planets with a similar environment to earth yet, which most likely means that the nearest one is very far away.  I think that considering there's already a lot of money put into ideas to terraform mars, and how nearby it is (Which is already very resource consuming to get to as it is) we'd definitely be closer to colonizing mars than some as-of-yet unknown planet. I can't even imagine us being able to travel outside of out solar system xD

That is interesting to think about though!

It most likely would be destroyed but it will give earth time to heal itself and restore into the beautiful planet that once was home to many exotic and precious species. Maybe, it's a good thing if we leave earth eventually. I don't think earth can take anymore of this bullshit that we're feeding it..

Yes but we will just take another planet and it would probably cost a lot to move there so some humans will still be left and i dont think that it would help very much :/ also we would just be destroying another planet and what happens after that? Just find more and more planets?

You know, it would take forever to travel to another planet. Only the young ones would make it.
So there'd be a very limited amount of people on that planet. Maybe, if people still haven't learned from
totally trashing this motherfucking planet *excuse my french* we really do not deserve to go on. Sad to
say but, we really don't deserve to live if all we do is trash everything and destroy stuff instead of helping it.
I REALLY doubt that humans will keep moving from planet to planet and if they encounter another form of life,
another being (because i really doubt that we're the only ones in the whole entire galaxy) I hope that they'll
fight back and put us in our place because if no one slaps some sense into us it's going to get worse.

I KNOW it just makes me sad because there are probably thousands of drop dead gorgeous planets out there with wildlife like no other and if humans find them they'll definitely be destroyed... I think about it when people want to kill bears when they move to more mountainous areas,, like yeah i get that a bear attacked you? But it was there first and you moved in on its territory and expect it not to be threatened?? Most humans think that they're the top dog and that if something tries to harm them that that animal is in the wrong but usually the animal was there first and to try and destroy it for defending its territory/seeing you as a threat to its family is just next level stupidity. People can't take what they dish out man
